Oscar Romero PRESENTE

30 years ago, an unassuming man was shot while celebrating mass in a hospital chapel.  The shooter worked under the auspices of his government (and ours).  The martyr's crime was speaking out against poverty and repression.

Did you see on The Daily Show the short bit about Romero? It was criticizing the Texas school board for deciding he wasn't worth putting in text books because he wasn't famous enough.

They also cut Cesar Chavez because he is apparently not 'worthy of admiration' or some such nonsense. (They don't really like abolitionists in Texas, clearly.)
