The Corinthian still didn't know why he had actually stayed. Being spirited away from home in the middle of the night was irritating enough as it was. Waking up next to his own personal doppelganger in a Europe that had suddenly slipped back several decades should have had him scuttling back to the Dreaming and swearing off alcohol for the next few years. Should have, but didn't.
Curiosity was at fault here. That was it. If this really was his predecessor--none of this place was anywhere in any of those damn second-hand memories, but this had to be his predecessor--the chance to learn a little more about himself was too good to pass up. The things he could do, how to really get a grasp on his inherited abilities....nothing that would disappoint Dream, of course, but if he wanted to do his job as well as possible

They really hadn’t established much so far, Stefan invited his successor in, offered him a drink…cigar…a nice view from the veranda. Unlike his future self there was something more tasteful and elegant about him, but every ounce of it was false, but not with The Corinthian he was much easier to open up to. That didn’t mean he would spill his guts completely, not that he’d had the opportunity. There conversation had been base at best and this one being so young he felt it might be an overwhelming amount of information for him to take on the first night

It was still so bizarre to hear his voice coming from another that for a moment he thought he was unconsciously thinking out loud. He turned his head, one eye cracking open to reveal a thin flash of teeth, and it was only after he stretched that he finally pushed himself up with a small frown. "I think I'd like them a little better if everyone else wasn't so insistent on my wearing them all hours of the day." Yet even with that, he still reached over and plucked them from the other nightmare's hand, dropped them over his face.
And then he let himself relax. Despite his complaints, there was something about being stared at so intently with a gaze so similar to his own that was almost unnerving....
"I didn't mean to fall asleep." Especially not before they had actually gotten a chance to talk. He was pretty sure that was just slightly on the rude side of first meetings.
Oooooh I hope you guys had loads of fun~flawed_mirrorJuly 19 2010, 02:35:58 UTC
“That’s terrible…picking on you…but don’t you worry, there’s no reason to stand on ceremony. Not here anyway, not now…of course out there glasses are necessary,” he gestured to the window indicating the outside world where there were humans abound. Humans that wouldn’t understand what they were, but at least they could blend in. In the Dreaming there was a certain level of reverence and solitude, everyone giving him a wide berth…but not here. He slipped into obscurity where he could easily melt into a crowd, just another face. There were things about this world that frustrated him endlessly, but he was content living this way
