Taking product photos are the bane of my existence. I'm getting better at it, but I feel like I spend so much time reading about taking good product photos, styling, etc.
Recently, I built myself a lightbox. How I ever got by without one for so long is beyond me, but now I love it. I came across
this tutorial on how to build one out of cheap foam board. The whole thing cost me about $35 to build. I love the results I get in it.
In the beginning, this is how I'd take pictures of my hats
And now, with the lightbox, this is how this same hat looks.
It's a whole lot better, but definitely has room for improvement. My biggest obstacle is styling. How do I setup a nice shot that creates depth without being distracting to the item I'm photographing? I think I'm on the way to a breakthrough. I shot these two today with my little boy for some pants I need to get listed to sell
This one I think would be great photographed at the beach
I'm almost there. It just drives me crazy to take and retake photos, but hooray for digital!
In my next post I'll write about my creative process and how it drives my hubby crazy sometimes.
