I've decided to move back to the UK in order to do something at University and get my name on a bit of paper. As much fun as it is just bumbling around Japan on wings of fate, I think that doing something proper like that is probably a good idea for me. I've gotten a lot out of the past 3 years, and I have no regrets about being here and doing the ( Read more... )

What course/location have you got in mind?

Touring sounds like a good plan, get a bit of culture down you!

One less man in Japan to abuse for favours :(

I was thinking about taking Japanese, just because I know the language conversationally really well, and could basically cheat my way through the first year or two :P The bad part is that it seems to be only available really in Leeds :/ I'd rather head in a more southernly direction.

Though I could do something with computing and carry on studying Japanese on the side privately, then I think I would have a better choice.

Japanese might be easy(-ish), but will it be good for teh jobs? you can always do the JLPT exams to prove you are 31337 in JapFagLand anyway. Plus you are good conversatioanlly, but how are you with the politeness levels (needed for exams and shiat)...?

Plenty of pleaces do Japanese at Uni... like, f'rinstance the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies

Thinking about doing it so that I can possibly skip some of the course length. Also, a degree is a degree... but I think that something computer orientated might be more suited to me.

1) I read 社会人, thought you meant 会社員, and worried a little!

2) As others have said, whatchathinkingofdoingatUni?

3) Finally, you can get some JapFag 新聞 over here, so plenty of chance for Kanji practice!

I don't know enough Japanese to read newspapers yet, though I guess going through them and translating in my head as I go along with my collection of dictionaries would be good :)

Oh, and I used to get confused between 社会人 & 会社員 too! I was didn't click that there was a difference until I found out what 社会 meant as opposed to 会社 :)

Yah! I'll be able to come to Japan pretty much whenever and just stay at my friends place regardless :p It's not really that much to fly over here!
