In the market for a new email provider

Can anyone recommend a good webmail provider which doesn't include any *#!@ social networking crap ( Read more... )

Buy a domain name/hosting package. Boom all the POP or IMAP email you can eat with your own personalised domain. Most will provide webmail access too if that's important.

Or get Google Apps for your domain, which lets you control the services on the domain, but has the same Gmail interface.

It really makes you have it even if you tell it you don't want it?? That's no good. I'm giving it a try but I didn't have the patience for Twitter so I doubt I'll have patience for this either - though if it can't easily be turned off I suppose I won't have much of a choice. Google really are going too far in their prying crusade.

Nope, it can be turned off as easily as Chat and, in fact, all their other features.

That's alright then, from the descriptions above it seemed like it'd be a pain to get rid of. I can't say it's thrilling stuff so I probably will disappear it, or just let it toddle on on its own.
