My embarrasing ailment

I have a medical condition which severely impacts my ability to live a normal life. Most of the time it's in remission and I can mingle into the crowd, laughing and joking with my peers and pretending I'm just like them. Other times, such as now, it halves my productivity and makes it impossible for me to carry out many everday activities. And yet ( Read more... )

Ok you're being crazy - go see a doctor. It's a perfectly legitimate condition and they can arrange for you to see a physiotherapist who can show you exercises that will help mitigate the problem. The longer you leave it untreated the more likely it's going to get worse over time.

I speak from some experience here as I started getting wrist pains back when I was working in Cambridge. I went to see a doctor, told him I thought it was RSI or something related, was referred to a physiotherapist who identified what was causing me pain and gave me an exercise to do along with some general advice about how to avoid RSI. Solved the problem and I've not experienced pain since. This was in 2004 btw.

First of all this is reall as razza has said, second of all is a daft hint but one that I use a lot, if you cant spread the butter cut a bit and drop it in to your soup- in a cup if that is better- as it melts use the bread to catch it, that way you have buttery soupy bread that tastes wonderful.

Hope you get help soon that is more long lasting than the next codeine.

I've had RSI come and go for a few years. I bought a standing desk and spent a few years doing a lot of wrist stretches (search youtube) and it's calmed down now. Painkillers make the problem worse (by reducing circulation, you're reducing the blood in the muscles in your hands and forearms, which will make the problem that much worse). I have a massive, clunky vertical keyboard for when it gets really bad, but I don't think it was worth the money.

Stop being a fucking idiot. If you're going to fuck your career and ability to earn money because you're scared to go and do something about this, then you deserve what you get
