Not listening anymore

I've just sent off an email to Oxford Samaritans explaining that I won't be re-joining them, and outlining some of the things which made it difficult for me to get involved with the branch when I transferred there from Aberystwyth, in hopes that the next person will have an easier time of it ( Read more... )

Samaritanness sounds very sad. Thinking I wouldn't/won't enjoy transferring out of my CAB, especially so if the new bureau isn't as good. I'd plug Oxford CAB at you but it's probably not the best-suited volunteering opportunity to the full-time employed.

ich_bin_die_ruh is probably right: the CAB do great work, but most of it during the daytime, unfortunately. It's the kind of thing I'd like to do when I retire - assuming I ever get to the point where I can afford that! - though.

It's like I keep telling everyone: chronic illness is the way to go. Frees one up to do a whole host of things one had not previously considered. Careers advisers should include it as an option.

I knew I should have said "ill" when the careers-woman at my school asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. Too late now, I guess.
