Oh man -- I've read so many things about how our attention spans have gone from 5 minutes down to 30 seconds because of the influx of technology! I work day-to-day with kids who text the person sitting next to them :P And you're right -- there is value to it because it allows people who wouldn't normally or couldn't afford to talk often over the phone to communicate easily and cheaply. But it's not a substitute for face-to-face conversations. I think it's amazing how it's become so hard to opt-out. It used to only be crazy business people who had pagers or cell phones but now everyone and their mother is on Facebook and Twitter and has texting. You have to CHOOSE to ignore your phone or avoid Facebook for a day... we've made our diet very heavy on superficial social media and very light on meaningful contact with those we actually like! Ok I'm totally ranting but I just wanted to say I agree and I like your insight :)

miss you!
