What a shame for that restaurant and everyone who loves it :(
I was horrified at how many restaurants closed after the pandemic here in the US...but it is so incredibly tough to be in the food industry even without a pandemic going on. Maybe a buyer will appear, but it will certainly never be the same.

The thing being, they made it through the pandemic (it was all the coffee shops that closed) and now , five years later, they're going to close with no intention to open elsewhere. But equally, the Japanese restaurant right beside them, which is actually smaller, is still going.

And stores that close on the main drag, where this place is, stay closed. There are a couple that have been empty for going on ten years now. I have no idea how the landlords pay their taxes.

I wonder what led them to decide to close. I mean the pandemic is past but it still represents a massive loss for most restaurants, that they may not have been able to recover from in following years. But yeah, how on earth people pay their taxes or rent on CLOSED stores on that main drag...who knows! Crazy.

It may well be good old Torontoian greed. Banks close branches here because they're not making *enough* profit, not because they're losing money.
