Just FYI

I don't have posters or team t-shirts, there's no teen crush, no inappropropriate dream about any characters or myself wished into the story, and no camping out for any book or movie lines, but I have read the entire Twilight series, have seen the movies, and don't take offense at people who don't like this stuff. I will freely admit wanting to see ( Read more... )

You know, my sister decided to read the books and was admitting this to me. I don't personally understand the obsession or the hatred for the obsession. All I have ever noticed is a really pale guy on commercials once in a while. I think hating on people who are really into something is worse these days than being really into something. Sure, talking about nothing but say golf like hooded-nubbins roommate is annoying but hating on someone for being really into something... it just seems an even bigger waste of time than having said obsession. And on that note, oh yeah, you don't have an obsession. Wow. Work must be really dull for me today. Sorry.

Not that I can claim any real love for the technique of the writer, but the complications of the overall story-arch, mostly with the "larger-than-us" love story and the twisted love-triangle, this whole series reads more like a supernatural Romeo and Juliet to me. You might actually like the movies at least, because they cut some of the supernatural-wonder-crap from the books, and boil it more down to the complicated love story. Still, just the "intensity" of how these people are supposed to be drawn together, in such a way that they really just spend so much time just gazing longingly at each other, well, that's sort of a movie-deal-breaker for most people -- though I think it's weird in and of itself, it works here, with these people, in this story. I believe that's how they'd be together. We're fated to be together, it's bigger than us, why waste all our time with small-talk with just being near each other is all we need.

Meh, I dunno. I'm sick of my work today, so I've got time to muse on it.

My niece and her Navy-husband are getting relocated to the northwest next year. I can't wait to visit!
