day one: thoughts, analysis, etc

In some respects, yesterday was a challenge; in other ways I was forced to adapt the experiment for different forms of communication.

I had to talk for the first half of my day, in spurts; I kept to the bare minimum in class and between, although it was necessary once I got to work. There's really nothing virtual about my workplace relationships; ( Read more... )

You know, after you're done you can confirm, that is.

Also, this experiment sounds a lot like the everyday experience of living in a foreign country with a grasp of the language that comes just short of being able to express the complex ideas in your mind whenever conversation strays from the simple, mundane, and unneeding of actual conscious thought.

On the other hand, it is kind of fun trying to explain what octane is (C8H18) in a foreign language.
