I have nothing to say and I'm saying it.

I have Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Foursquare, Blip, Posterous, and a decrepit Myspace account and I hate them all.  I've had another LJ since 2003 and another prior to that one.  Why is it that I don't care to say anything on any of  those and yet I feel the need to make a new LJ?  I don't really know the answer to that ( Read more... )

Maybe because you're Mommy-fied (and rightly so!)right now? ;) I certainly haven't had much will to post anywhere lately but once upon a time LJ was where I actually communicated. Really communicated. I miss that. I miss the dialogue as opposed to just status updates, "likes", and the deluge of event(and app)invites.

It just felt more personal. I miss the connections.

It was simpler when everyone hung out on Livejournal. It also seems like everyone was much closer, more "connected" (ironically)...

So true! I sincerely miss it. We are all a part of each others friend circles everywhere but it seems to be too much and spread too thin. Everything is internet overload in a million places. We were once very much a community of tight knit individuals around these parts who knew what was really going on in each others lives (and minds)and I guess the nostalgia is tugging at my heart strings. People (myself included) are very self censoring on Facebook because there are just too many damn people (family members, teachers, 7th grade science partners) watching everything you say and do. I don't really care so much what other people think but more often than not it's just easier to keep my mouth shut and my thoughts to myself than offend or get into an e-argument with people I work with or went with to Sunday School.

Here's to good old LJ feeling like my most favorite old t-shirt both comfortable, tried and true, well worn and always welcoming. Salud!

I'm feeling the exact same way, honey. Our conversation about LJ the other night has inspired me to come back here & actually start writing again.
