Return to the King

So all through Christmas while in Atlanta with my family I reflected on my opening midnight-showing of RETURN OF THE KING experience. After reading all the heartfelt and eloquent posts from the people on Victoria & my friends' lists, and after hashing and rehashing the experience with Victoria, I felt a sense of wistfulness.

Yeah, it could be overstimulation, or it could be that you needed more familiarity with the characters before being able to cry for them - I mean, yeah, you were touched, but you also hadn't really seen FotR or TTT often enough to really get attached, so you needed to rehash it with everybody, get a sense of connection, and then on second viewing it could hit home.

Those are all good points. That's why I'd love to see Fellowship again on the big screen, preferably. It was a little hard to grasp what is really at stake with Frodo & the ring while you're trying to keep track of the characters and the backstories & subplots. So, basically, you could say that the more familiar you get with everything, the more you love it and relate to it.

Exactly.

Having lived with and loved these characters and this story for over 20 years, I was primed to cry through the whole thing. YOu just needed some extra time to absorb it all.

Was sent here by musesfool with a warning that you require Boromir fangirling references.

Do you like him unsullied and strong? Angsty and suffering? Wildly in love with Aragorn? Still alive in an AU and married to Eowyn? Give me a hint. *g*

Hey, there, CruiseD. Thanks for responding. I've been out of town and off-line till today.

How do I like Boromir best...well, angsty and suffering is always good. Beleagured but not yet bested. Angry and proud, with some redeeming vulnerability is really good. I've read some of the Aragorn/Boromir fics, and though some of it is nicely written, I can't fully buy it. Boromir Aeowyn A/U would be good too.

Do you write fan fic?

Fleur
