Buttonhole twist?

I need extra eyes from the HiveMind! The navy blue buttonhole silk that I got for my 18th c. riding habit made of navy wool is a little more royal-blue than I want, but the next close color is black. This is a cotton thread in black to show the color comparison. I don't know if I should go with the blue or order black. I've been sewing with black

Black! I think the blue has too much of a sheen to match the fabric.

The black pictured is cotton, just for color comparison. I was trying to avoid having to wait for an order of black silk button-twist, but I agree that the blue "pops" a little too much. Thanks for your input!

I vote for the black too, assuming it photographed like it really looks.

The black is cotton, for color comparison, so the black silk I just ordered will have a sheen like the blue. But I think it will look better because the blue sheen makes it "pop" just a little too much. Thanks for voting!

Yeah. I was just all ready to settle into doing buttonholes for a few days (haha), but the color! It wasn't working for me. I'd hoped everyone would tell me I was crazy so I could avoid waiting for black thread to arrive. Oh well - there are other parts of the jacket to work on! Moving on!
