February is African American History Month, and as an English teacher I am taking full advantage of this to work in some African American poetry for the poetry unit that I'm doing. Last night I watched the third and final movie in The Godfather Saga. Although many critics hated it, I didn't think it was all that bad. Yesterday I watched The Godfather on DVD. My parents gave it to me for my birthday (which isn't until saturday) and so I watched the first movie. I thought it was really good. I have been trying to eat more healthy foods in an effort to lose some weight. For breakfast, I've been having oatmeal. The plain kind. Quaker Oats. Yuck. It really, really sucks. I also have cheerios every now and again, but I'm trying to get my daily dose of oatmeal because they say it is one of the healthiest things to eat in the morning. ( Read more... )

I am quitting the YMCA. I am sick of running into students there, and the pool is hardly ever available anymore. So, tonight I joined HEALTHTRAX. Its much more expensive but I will be able to get a better work out in and run into less kids!

This is going to be a very busy semester for me. I am teaching, of course, but that is only the half of it. I'm also taking 2 grad classes - one in writing and one in literature - and of course there's the running. I plan on doing a lot of it from now on as a way to get some extra exercise in and lose the extra pounds.

This is my first official post of 2007 - and it comes the night before I have to go back to work from a week-long vacation. I could really use another day or two off.
