At my last quilt workshop, I started making a quilt (duh) and then realised after I'd come home and carried on with it that I didn't have enough of one of the fabrics. And that the piece I had left didn't have the selvedge strip on it ( Read more... )

My sympathies. Now that I am crocheting critters large enough to require more than one ball of yarn, I am discovering why people build yarn stashes. I hadn't understood before that so many craft materials are quickly discontinued. I'm about to order some Cleckheaton California Lagoon from the last stockist in Australia.

They're as bad as fashion companies for changing their ranges.

Plus, they're almost all from the US, and then gradually trickle out to other places, so half the time they're already discontinued before they turn up at the local craft shop!

It turns out that I don't know my US state abbreviations well enough, and the quilt shop is actually in suburban Boston, so I'll keep that in mind if they decide it's going to be too much hassle to post it.
