If you were driving from Darkest Kent (M2) to The Frozen North (probably M11 but maybe A1 or M1), and wanted to break the journey, park the car and tube / train into Liverpool Street before carrying on, where would you do it

In the past I've used Leytonstone, the roads between there and Whipps Cross Hospital used to be unrestricted parking (the roads off Poppleton Road) - I don't know if they still are, Hitch would know as he lives near there. It's also easy access back to the M11
Having tried to park in Ilford, I know it's pretty hard - though Caroline could give some tips? Was going to suggest Dagenham Heathway (district line), as we find it easy parking in the streets near the Heathway. But the tube journey into L/St may be longer?
If going to L\Street from Dagenham, I believe you can change easily at Mile End - last time we did this (admittedly years back!) you just walked across the platform and hopped on the Central Line.
Parking near the station is not great in Woolwich, but we have parking at our place if you'd like to use that. It's a short bus ride or a 10ish minute walk.
It depends very much on time of day but if your parents are carrying on to the A1 or M1 , I would be tempted to park at High Barnet or East Finchley tube which have large cheap car parks and are close to M25 and N Circ respectively.
You could also try one of those park on people's drive websites if you would prefer to go in on central line.
I only drive into London when I can't help it but when I do, I make sure that I have a back up parking plan and directions to more than one tube car park. I usually get my first choice but ... London.
