how is it that no one is blaming bush for the poor, poor response to hurricaine katrina? he deployed thousands of national guard troops to iraq, and, oh wow, now they're not around in full force to do what they're actually supposed to do: be the first line of response for large-scale disasters ( Read more... )

yesterday, I spent the whole day flipping between fox and cnn. My dad was listening to NPR. On Fox, they were talking about how great the support was, had politicians thanking other politicians, and the like. On CNN they showed the president, talking about how there are hundreds of bussses, and that the people were all going to be fine, that they were dropping food as he spoke etc. Then, they had the CNN reporter saying "um, I don't see any busses... the mayors trying to get the people to walk out of the city, and they've dropped like 50 sadwiches"
Same deal on NPR... they were calling the politicians on their lies.

i think a lot of schools are trying to help out. i just read that cornell is offering places for Tulane students and faculty. and i think syracuse is doing the same thing as well.

Everyone seems to be (rightfully) blaming the government and Bush now.

The Connecticut public universities and at least four private ones (Mitchell, Saint Joseph, Fairfield, and Sacred Heart) have opened their doors. I'm proud.
