I agree. I'm a heterosexual man who does not have any desire to have any homosexual attention directed my way, but I have absolutely no problem hanging out with gay friends or being around them when they're being (reasonably) affectionate. Obviously, there are social boundaries for such displays, but I don't mind guys (or girls) holding hands, flirting a little, touching, kissing, etc... as long as it isn't over the lines I wouldn't want any heterosexual couple crossing either.

My theory on how this comes about: We're taught subconsciously from a very young age that boys kissing boys or girls kissing girls is "eww, gross!" We see it in cartoons or sitcoms and laugh at a funny situation, but our kids don't understand the social context yet -- they just subconsciously realize a pattern, and by the time they're old enough to understand it, opposition is deeply rooted.

Hmm. Well. Interesting topic. :)

again, i feel it's necessary to defend our "conditioning." you couldn't be more wrong. Gay sex is just not aesthetically pleasing. If you think about it really, no matter what the porn, sex is not beautiful. A woman's body can be gorgeous, but really, when you see the actual intercourse go on, whether lesbian, straight, or gay, it's not pretty. The difference is that when it is lesbian or straight, our physical hormones flair up. Really, ask any guy what he's thinking about the porn after he's finished masterbating. I promise you, he's not thinking, wow that's so beautiful, no matter how tasteful the directing. So again, Lauren, you're wrong. Oh, and I just got a job.

So you contend that sex in general is visually displeasing....but I don't see you discounting straight sex, or lesbian sex with the same candor that you do gay sex ( ... )
