So my baby sister is getting married, a fact we have known about for about a year. I have known the date, but numbers fly out of my head unless I am looking at a calendar. Today i get the invitation with the date . Saturday April 25- cool. Till I look at the calender and see that is the fourth Saturday in April, which has traditionally been the ( Read more... )

Can you spend the night with another family member the night before the wedding, and carpool with them??! There must be a way to do this.

Spending the night with another is totally out- absolutely no bed space. Car situations are cramped as is and another body will not fit. Rental car is out, as we have no credit card and it is a must to rent a car. No way to drop us off or drop him off because of time and distance. Only way it would be possible would be if the date of the wedding is changed or the date of Confirmation, and the one is not going to happen ( the wedding that is).

Rent a car for the day; or; go stay the night with your family (shudder- last ditch solution) and have them give you and the Biscuit a ride... or... rent a car for the day... have hubby drive it so that if it's a long drive you don't put the miles on the rental... Just a thought.

Sadly, none of those are possible. No credit card to rent a car, the vehicle situation amongst the rest is cramped as hell to begin with, hubby has to be 40 miles in one direction, wedding is 30 miles in other direction and traffic patterns between here and there make it impossible to do time wise. Unless they change the date of the wedding or Conformation, ,it's a no go

I'm sure either my mom or me and Steve could give you a ride.

Not going to know if we are going to have a problem till Uncle Bob gets his actual schedule in a week or so, and then there are a few other BIG snags to iron out with this. Thanks...I will definitely let you know if we need one ! I forgot that you are not one of the ones in the wedding party and you guys have transportation. Our family is getting so big that i keep forgetting who is doing what and where and when.

And the verdict is.... phoenixminstrel February 5 2009, 00:20:49 UTC
...that the jury is still out at the moment. But to clarify -

Ascension (hereafter referred to as 'Church A'), like most Catholic churches, schedules the sacrament of Confirmation during the Easter Season (beginning this year on April 12) and it's a big thing because it is one of the rare occasions when the diocesan bishop pays a visit (the bishop is the minister of the sacrament of Confirmation) - so in short, it's a big deal. This is one of those occasions when the presence of the choir (music ministry) is expected. This is one of my contractual requirements - and there are potential repercussions if I have to back out of it.

I'm not absolutely certain there's a conflict yet - it's just been that this has fallen on the last Saturday in April for the last three years, so I'm not optimistic. With a gloomy economic picture, April is my last big income month before the long and possibly financially dry summer; so I have to be very careful what I choose to decline.

Hope this helps others understand.
