Writing to force myself to STOP CLEANING !!

Feb 16, 2009 12:55

My legs ache like they have been put through a wood chipper and my arms feel like lead weights, but my brain is in this stupid "cleaning zone", and unless I force myself to stop I will keep going till I seriously tear a muscle or something. So I am luring my brain with the idea of writing about something sweet, cute, and a little disturbing ( Read more... )

hm, I haven't done most of the things you mentioned, skin-wise, certainly not at a spa. But some things, strange as they sound, are nice. Paraffin dip for the hands or feet is worth trying. We did hand dipping as an afternoon session at MT school once, and I was surprised at the results. It does leave your skin feeling very nice for a number of days, but also took all the aches out.

And it being a massage therapy school, we tried out different things including hot stone massage. I liked that one. But hugely expensive to have a pro do. At some point I'm going to get into it, and then try to teach Lyle some of it. Much less expensive :)

If you like caring for your feet and hands though, there are at-home "spa" kits -- or you can gather the things together yourself that you need. Then, have your husband do it for you.

One year I picked up a foot care kit at an after Christmas sale (75% off I think). Then we took turns caring for each other's feet. It was surprisingly personal and pleasant thing to do.

Doing things at home is definitely the cheaper, but often messier option. If you have access to flat rocks like skipping stones an a working oven, you can do that one at home as well. I have often wondered if it could be done with a crock pot. The heat factor is one of the best points in all of these, including the parafin dip on the feet. I would never do it on my hands as I think it would be a fatal blow to my guitar callouses !

Here some very popular treatments are seaweed wraps and mud treatments. It is hot mud applied with a brush, then you are wrapped up and left for about 20 minutes. The idea is the minerals with the heat sink into your skin better, which is true. I just get very wiggy at the idea of strangers smearing things on me. Phoenix is also a reiki master and I keep thinking it would be nice to just have him do a for real full body treatment on me. hen I would just do the rest of the stuff on my own. A mix of avacado, honey and bananas can do wonders for dry skin !

Sure, one of the things you're paying for is for them to do all the setup and cleanup ( ... )
