I briefly considered giving an arachnophobia warning ... But that would have spoiled the fun >:-)

When I first saw the thing, I just froze in my tracks. But when it scuttled away from me when I tried to escort him outside with the help of a glass (which turned out too small) and a writing block, I couldn't help myself. At least I didn't shriek (I think) ...

A few days ago I left my window open to listen to the storm outside, and I think a spider crawled in then. Or somehow got in my apartment. *shrugs* We're talking minuscule, no bigger than a skittle, but I couldn't look at it. I still have a very hard time watching Shelob and regularly close my eye for parts of it.

So that would have had me jumping on top of the bed. Eep!

I don't really mind spiders. I think we have lots of spiders living in the various corners of our apartment. But they are tiny compared to this fellow. Only the cobwebs are a bit of a nuisance. And since it is quite hot over here, I keep the windows open day and night, so it's no big surprise that there are spiders and other bugs coming for a visit. Mr. Eight Legs probably came in over the one of our rooflight domes (or whatever those things are called). But I am afraid to say that he won a free flight from our balcony. I don't know if spiders as bis as him survive a free fall over four floors ...

Quite a beauty, I must say!

We have a balcony outside our apartment, and spiders live and breed on the railing, spinning beautiful webs and eating the pesty bugs that go after our plants.

They like to lay eggs in the corners of the building and the railing. We leave them alone, except when they start invading the house. At least they stay on the ceiling, but cobwebs hanging from above is not attractive!!

Yes, that was quite a beauty, albeit a big one. Too big for me and him to share one apartment :-)

We have many smaller spiders living in the various corners of our apartment and I usually let them have their way. They keep the bugs at bay and do not bother me. I just remove the cobwebs from time to time.

This fellow probably came in over the roof. We live on the top floor and the building has a flat roof. We have two of those rooflight domes (or whatever those things are called). They are perfect for getting the warm air out of the apartment, so we usually keep them open at night, unless the weather forecast predicts rain.
