I've been thinking a lot the past couple of days about hypocrisy, in myself and in others. I know hypocrisy, like dishonesty is one of those fatal flaws of most people that can never truly be eradicated, merely fought against. Nevertheless, it is interesting how much it has been coming up lately ( Read more... )

Well I guess I'm glad you don't feel inferior to me. ^_^

It always makes me feel so much better when you and I are on the same page. I respect your opinion so much that it's sort of like "well, if BECCA agrees, I guess I DO have a point."

Love you! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

That's a great song (Iron and Wine)

Also, you're only human, don't expect to rid yourself of all your faults! People tend to magnify their faults so they're bigger to them than to the people around them, that or they ignore them. Being aware is good, even if you're over aware. I guess it's best to try to find a balance. <3 you.

Sometimes, it's easy to become overwhelmed by how keenly aware of our hypocrisies/self-serving biases/culturally-ethnocentric tendencies we see both in others and ourselves. And, that you're able to see those parts of yourself is such an essential ingredient toward growth and connecting with others.

I'd been having the same inner dilemma of tolerating intolerance for the sake of being consistent with the striving for equal-opportunity compassion. So far, I'm starting to feel it's good to like and love and understand those of more "judgmental" viewpoints, but to readily play devil's advocate for the out-group when that judgmental behavior/speech reveals itself. To not do so insinuates perceived acceptance or agreement.

I love your entries Christine, they seek so earnestly. :) Miss you.
