Sara's just been telling me that the hot springs are cooling, at least where she is.  Is anyone else experiencing this?

Optimus Prime, do you want me to check it out?  Tonight maybe?

I thought I was having to work far too hard to keep my spring at a comfortable temperature.

You doing something, Iroh? How does that work? [curious]

I am a Firebender, Bumblebee. I can heat the springs to the temperature that I like.

...fire "bender"?

[S-sorry, he's picturing in a literal, physical sense and trying to figure out how that even works. O.o]

Any idea what might be causing it?

I'm sorry.

Hmm... regardless of whether the hot springs are heated through a natural geological phenomenon or more artificial means, it seems odd that the heat would simply stop like that. The water cooled unnaturally fast; even a pot of hot water doesn't cool so quickly when left to stand.

It wouldn't be out of the question that this was caused by an outside source.

I'd think it'd almost have to be an outside source, Joshua. Problem's figuring out what.

Has anything like this ever happened before, do you know?

Yes.

Do you have any idea what it might be?

Um . . . well. I'm no geologist, but one of my creation-mates was. I remember asking Beachcomber once about how water can come already heated straight out of the ground. I don't remember all the details, but it has to do with natural activities deep in the core of the continent, thermal activities that create enough heat to affect any nearby water all the up to the surface. For the water to cool down, I can't help thinking it would take something . . . really, really bad happening deep underground that could even affect thermal activity.

Either that, or someone's cast some kind of magic over Licere or something. Either way, I think we should probably be concerned...

I'm not a geologist either, but yes, it would have to be something very large-scale. Which does happen, but for it to happen this quickly... That is not usually how these processes work. And it's rarely a good thing when they do.

I'm almost hoping it was magic. Though I know even less about that than about geology.

I'm with you. On...both accounts, actually. But there's plenty of people around who do know about magic and can maybe help us out.

I just . . . wish I knew where to start looking for answers, in either case.
