wo ho! an update!
Nice to see Matt FINALY making an honnest effort to see Min's side of things. And Min finaly letting his guard down long enough to stop using a few of his defence mechanisms.
Great segment, I can't wait to read more, please don't keep us waiting long! :)

Yes, they do stubbornly cling to those defense mechanisms, don't they? Sigh. But perhaps this chapter shows making a real effort is possible. Whether that sticks in their heads... we'll see.

It's almost frustrating how well you manage to convey Matt's mentality. I want to slap sense into him whenever he starts thinking. He really doesn't get it. I vote Alex does something drastic. Maybe if Matt could see Alex when does his own stuff, chasing bad people and being surrounded by people who treat him like a human being. Not take revenge on Matt but live his everyday life without being treated like a slave (it irks me when Matt thinks that Alex really need to be codled like a child and told what to do and when to do it).

I do understand your frustration, and that's an interesting suggestion. Unfortunately Matt still clings to that mindset that as a clone Alex is beneath him in status, and hence Matt's opinions carry more weight (in the 'I know better than you' sense). At least Matt is trying, and is sympathetic to what Alex has undergone, but some beliefs are more deeply ingrained than others. Alex has more patience than I would in a similar situation, but maybe it's easier to be patient when you're being deeply *ahem* satisfied in other ways. *grin*

ETA - I agree with your icon! It would free up so much of my time. :D

Thanks so much, both for your compliments and how you've managed to describe a lot of my own mixed feelings regarding slavefics. There seems to be this trope that as long as the (usually reluctant) master is kind, and the formerly abused slave grateful enough, the slavery is okay. Yes, the slave IS in a much better position than before, but there's no escaping the fact that they are still a slave. So I wanted to write a story where a) the master was not reluctant, b) the slave was not quite so helpless, and most importantly c) the slavery was not okay
