do NOT break the fourth wall

Traditionally, the Fourth Wall refers to the fourth, imaginary/invisible wall separating actors on a stage from the audience. According to wiki, it's a concept that's been around basically since forever, and seeing as (slash) fandom in general is a largely literary space, the concept's been adopted here too. The fact that they don't openly protest against this when confronted with fandom - albeit, Panic, at least, has expressed their dislike in interviews before - doesn't mean that they approve, encourage or even agree. It just means that they're not lacking the sense of politeness and tact that some fans seem to be missing.

Thank you.

Hah, yes, it was triggered by that. It's been bothering me forever - nearly every concert report I read in patd contains in some form a part where fans have decided they need to talk about fandom to the boys. :(

Thank you for writing this up. This is all of what i was TRYING to say, but rather more eloquent. I'm amazed that I haven't been thoroughly dogpiled yet over there, but what some people are saying is still really dismaying :-/

Unfortunately, a lot of it comes down to the age of many of these fans. They just don't know any better. It's frustrating, but I'm afraid it's impossible to really teach many of them the necessary tact without pressing a fast forward button on their maturation. I'm just glad our boys seem to understand that and haven't disowned us all yet :-/

some fans just make me sad face.

I was talking about something kind of similar with my housemate, who's also into rps. just because we enjoy reading and writing stories with our images of these people, doesn't mean we think they are really like that.
we're much happier on our side of the fourth wall, and they're probably much happier on theirs.
