I find Pepe terribly amusing; I'm not sure why. We saw him in The Muppet Wizard of Oz, which scared the heck out of Small Child a couple of years ago. Pepe is one of the newer ones, isn't he? I don't remember him from my childhood.

Ah, for the days when Bert and Ernie were still roommates--I swear they were my introduction to buddy fiction. They and Frog and Toad, and maybe a few others.

My childhood was over before the 90s--but I did see a couple of episodes of Muppets Tonight. Is that where they introduced Clifford as well? My husband said, "Doesn't he look like the alien from Predator?"

Yes, I've seen Evil Bert, and I find the whole phenomenon very strange.
