This doesn't mean that he won't be on the air, so far as I know, but he's sticking to his guns about keeping the legacy of Tonight as it should be, and not some bastardized version.
I say, good one Conan, even though I'd miss his hair on the air.
Well, there's a chance he won't. He probs won't be on NBC (and good for him, really, because they've been total bitches to him), ABC and CBS aren't interested in more late night, and I haven't been hearing positive things from Fox. Maybe he can get something on cable? I can't imagine someone not snatching him up. Like, maybe I will.
Fox execs were really coy about the damn thing yesterday, but it's a possibility they could explore (then again, they'd also have to get sticks out of their asses about the price they want for providing their stations on certain cable boardcasters.)
As it stands, I'll wait for some word from NBC and work my damn ass off to see a final show with Conan on the Tonight Show.
I've heard fairly positive things from Fox (I just almost typed House. LOL shows what I care about re: that network) and Bill Simmons had what I found the most intriguing idea, which was him crafting a 12:00 slot for Comedy Central, where he could do whatever the fuck he wanted thus uniting everything I find worthwhile late at night in one 11-1 slot.
Seriously though, sooo annoyed at NBC and their failsauce shenanigans.
"We assumed that all the hush-hush coy talk from FOX reps regarding adding Conan O'Brien to their late night was just out of courtesy. Now, it maybe that they don't want Conan either!
After talking to some FOX affiliate station managers, it has been suggested that adding Conan to the network maybe tricky, as most stations are tied into syndication contracts or local news for the late night spot.
While there are mainly financial and scheduling issues with placing Conan into the FOX line up, there is also concern that Conan isn't a right fit for the network, despite his history with The Simpsons. One of the network's General Mangers put it bluntly:
"If he didn't work on NBC, why would he work for us? I don't see a fit in our particular market." "
I am TOTALLY down with him moving to Comedy Central, though. That would be incredible.
Lololol if it happens that pic should be on every commercial.
Yeah, I've heard that usually, the affiliates have zero power, and NBC only heeded them because tbey need to approve the comcast deal. So fox may just ignore them, which I would not put past them.
Yeah I think comedy central would be awesome, maybe if he doesn't get a network offer he might do it. Otherwise I assume fox offers him way more cash
