I'll take THE RAPIST for 400

Personal freedom and identity are a huge part of who I am. My wariness of authority and conformity is reflexive, not affected; I don't think about rebellion, it just really happens. People either disagree with my methods, feel threatened by my blithe confidence, or believe that any deviation from the mode is anathema. Whatever the reason, the end ( Read more... )

I'm not a saint, so I'm guilty of that same crime, albeit to a lesser extent. I'll use FFXIII as my example, since I loathe what I consider to be the greatest piece of crap scam pulled in video game history. My sister and I detest it, we talk trash about it, and we traded in our copies for Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Yet, so many people in the world seem to adore it. It's receiving accolades and scores of over 9.0 despite what I consider to be a glaring flaw. Now, while I often talk the talk and grumble about lowered standards and "kids that don't get it," I'm also... happy for the people who do enjoy it. It's nice when people find something they enjoy, and really do enjoy it; I just wish that FFXIII had did the same thing for me ( ... )

I came for the terrifying stories of creep grognards having cybersex, I stayed for the insightful commentary. Interesting read, made my break better.

The story makes my hair stand on end, and it isn't the first time. If education is indoctrination, I'd love to find a way to indoctrinate everyone into learning from their damn mistakes. However, much like I learned when I was a psych major's guinea pig (study on human desires becoming more manifest in tabletop roleplay situations), I fear that too much of the rationale involved in the actions of these repeated victims boils down to dreaded wish fulfilment. After this many reiterations, it's pretty much a guarantee.

By interesting commentary, you mean 'Tits or GTFO,' right? :3

I always notice it because my locked icon is pretty huge and yellow. :')

I'm also in favor of OC RP, because I originally RPed with the intention of understanding the writing process better. It's all too easy to borrow insofar as fandom characters are involved.

I don't do it either because I'm not efficient enough to work out the potential problems and there won't be enough people to maintain interest. Sad, but that's how hobbies go.

I won't lie: when I RP from fandom, I have a game script on hand to continually reference. Tools of the trade! Very little of what I do with fandom is as intuitive and creative as when I am made to converse with a fleshed-out original character. I consider some of the impromptu dialogue I've had with Eberict to be amongst my best work, for example. The well is deeper with OC RP, but that's also the danger, I imagine.

Yeah, you flake! Clone me so I can be my own administrators. (Although that would get dull faster than fast.)

When I RP from fandom, I like to go a bit past the beaten path but while I've never had much voice issues, most characters get boring after some time because they don't tend to change all that much to me. I like the old AMS so much because there were nuances left to be explored even after so many interactions!

If I could clone people, I'd clone some hardworking students to do all of my work. :|b
