Lea walked into the studio where Glee was filmed sipping her iced coffee. She had a late call today which was nice, especially while everyone else had the usual early call. She had taken her time this morning, though upset that she couldn’t have her usual cuddling with Dianna like she was used upon waking up. She pulled off her dark sunglasses and placed them in her purse, expecting to hear some of the others reciting lines and filming. What she heard wasn’t so friendly…
“HOW STUPID ARE YOU, HMMM?! HOW FUCKING INCOMPETENT ARE YOU MS. AGRON?! BECAUSE I REALLY WANT TO FUCKING KNOW!!! CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME FUCKING ANSWERS MA’AM, IS THERE A REASON YOU ARE UTTERLY INCAPABLE OF ACTING!? ARE YOU BRAINDEAD OR JUST SEVERLY STUPID?” Ryan roared. Lea stopped dead in her tracks at the sight before her.
Dianna, in full Quinn Fabray attire, was standing in the middle of the choir room set, staring down at her feet, hands intertwined behind her back. Her face was bright red and her eyes were filled with tears as Ryan unleashed hell. The entirety of the cast stood around them, watching in horror as the director, to put it lightly, ripped Dianna a new one. Lea had no idea what had happened to provoke Ryan’s reaction, but she could only watch as her girlfriend stood silently, listening to the furious things he had to say. Finally he stopped his rant and stormed off. The rest of the cast and set remained quiet; nothing was audible but the sharp breaths Dianna was inhaling, attempting to fight back tears. Finally, she attempted to look up but couldn’t, and walked quickly out of the set, presumably to her trailer. The rest of the cast began to talk, discussing what they had just heard.
Lea tried to collect herself. She marched up to Cory who was talking to Heather. “What the fuck was that?! What’d Di do?” Lea asked quickly. “Nothing, literally nothing! She messed up this one line a few times, and Ryan fuckin’ lost it. It was so bizarre!” Cory exclaimed. Lea turned to Heather who was nodding her head. “She just couldn’t get this one line out and he freaked on her, I’ve never seen anything like-“ Before Heather could finish, Lea had stormed off to the trailer, uninterested in whatever else her friends had needed to say.
She cruised through the set, and walked up the metal steps of the trailer she and Dianna shared. She knocked once and pressed her ear to the door. “P-p-please…go away” she heard Dianna say quietly. “Di baby, it’s me. Can I please come in luv?” Lea asked softly. There was a moment of silence, followed by footsteps as Dianna swung the door open. Her eyes were bright red and there were tears down her face. “I don’t know why, I couldn’t say those lines! B-b-but Ryan…he just…he just-“ she started to cry more. Lea walked up the last step and grabbed the blonde in a strong hug, pushing her slightly inside and closing the door behind her. “Shhhh baby, shhh. It’s ok. Come on hun, it’s alright, it’s alright” she whispered quietly into the blonde’s ear. Lea cupped the back of Dianna’s head and gently rubbed the soft blonde hair. She held the trembling blonde like this for a few minutes, letting her cry out everything she needed to.
Finally Dianna calmed down some, and they made their way to the couch. Lea sat beside Dianna, and held her face for a gentle kiss. This calmed Dianna down immensely, as Lea pulled back gently, their foreheads still touching. “Are you ok babe?” Dianna nodded weakly and looked into Lea’s eyes. “Yea…that was just really embarrassing. I don’t know why he did that, he’s never…gone apeshit like that over something as small as lines…”Dianna said quietly. They sat like this for a few minutes, gingerly kissing while Lea resumed rubbing the back of Dianna’s head, when suddenly there was a knock at the door. Lea placed another kiss on Dianna’s lips and went to answer the knock.
Ryan stood outside looking bashful. He wasn’t surprised when he looked up and saw Lea, not Dianna, but looked past her to see if Dianna was inside. “Hey Lea, I’d like to speak to Dianna for a sec” he said calmly. Lea shook her head. “Ryan she’s really not in great shape right now. I’ll tell her you stopped by” she retaliated and she started to close the door. Ryan reached up and grabbed the door. “Lea, come on, she’s my actress, I can talk to her if I want to talk to her” he said sternly. Lea glared down at him. “Fine” she grumbled, and walked back to Dianna, who had calmed down considerably, though tensed up immediately at the sight of the director. Lea sat down beside her and took Dianna’s trembling hand. “It’s ok baby, I’m here for you” she whispered and flashed the blonde a supportive smile.
“Dianna, I’m deepy, deeply sorry for what I said earlier. I’ve been having a bad morning, lots of issues with the tech guys, I took my frustration out on you. You know I didn’t mean a damn thing I said, you’re terrific” he said with a friendly smile. “Take the morning off, we’ll shoot your scenes later. I…I just wanted to say that” he said, looking almost nervously at Lea, who he understood was as protective of Dianna as a mama bear over her cubs. Dianna didn’t say anything, so he nodded a goodbye and showed himself out.
“See hun, he’s not so terrible. You know you’re excellent, don’t you?” Lea asked encouragingly. Dianna smiled a bit and nodded and turned to her girlfriend to pull her in for a more heated kiss. They spent the rest of the morning in the trailer together, putting good use to the phrase “If the trailers a-rocking, don’t go a-knockin.”
