Maybe it's just me, but if this is so infuriating, what's the point in keeping this dude around waiting for him to mess up again? If he hasn't proven trustworthy already, it's a rare instance that he will prove to be trustworthy in the future. Seems to me like keeping him around only sets you up to get mad/angry/hurt/upset.
