Okay, so, thanks to this sweet video, my brain took off on a walkabout regarding Elementary last night.  It was fun.  :-)

Ooh, I love that about the colours. It's funny, I was talking with K the other day about decorating (we're probably about to move) and how I wouldn't mind the new place not being sleek and modern - as long as it had warmth, and character. It goes a long way. And of course if she and the cats are there, it feels like home.

The bee as a motif is something I want to poke at, a little bit. I'm wary of attempting fic for this canon, but then I was thinking I also want to try writing about platonic relationships and making them every bit as important and deep as romantic ones?

And that idea is so cute, I could squeal. You know I'm not a cute kinda person per se, but there's something about this show and all its jagged edges that it creates a kind of... safe space? Like it's okay to have fluff in there because the show will deal with all the human failings and such?

Thanks for the signal-boost! We'll see if there are any nibbles...I'm pretty new to this. I just finally managed to collect some thoughts, and thought I might share them, if there was any interest.

I've thought that about the colors before, but it didn't crystallize until last night. I agree - warmth and character are everything, if you're looking for a place to relax and let it all hang out. Modern is clean and striking, but it can be cold, too, and encourages reservation.

And the fact that it's canon only makes it better ( ... )
