I'm in a political straight jacket

Recently, it has been made clear to us by Camera Obscura and their management don't particularly want us to play with them. This has gone so far as to say that we can't use any of their stuff, and have to play acoustic when the gig comes around. I have no idea why they think they can get away with this... I mean, who are they, U2?

So anyway, we're ( Read more... )

Instead of everyone leaving, they should loudly request / sing along to Belle and Sebastian songs.

And then cry when somebody points out it's not actually Belle and Sebastian. Then everyone should storm the stage and smash the band's instruments whilst shouting "WHATS THIS DO THEN?"

Then the band should be gutted with the jagged edges of a broken guitar neck.

Or you could just sneer at them.

Make sure the edges are really, really sharp.

We don't want the bastards surviving, now do we?

I am liking the idea of shouting Belle and Sebastian songs at them. I think they'd like that.

It's stupid. We have a tonne of acoustic-y songs, but we don't like playing them live... they never engage the audience as much as our more rockin' numbers. I don't see why we should have to compromise and show a completely un-representative version of our sound just because they're selfish dickheads. Were they never in the same situation, of being a struggling band who are keen to impress on their 'big break'?

I insist people show their dissatisfaction at them all through them playing their deriverative nonsense, that or just leave. They are complete shit after all.

I actually quite like them and may watch the whole of their set. I'll spit in their faces too though (and not out of respect).

As long as Belle and Sebastian still release records there is no reason for them to exist.

Amida play acoustic? The next thing they'll be asking us to play scarborough fair and wild mountain thyme. We can all grow beards and dress up as farmers. I agree with mellor, Judus!

We're supporting Camera Obscura (shite B&S rip-off merchants), and they've told us they don't want us to play, despite the promoter booking us, not them. Since they can't have their way they've told us we can't use any of their equipment and would rather we were acoustic so as to cut down on the time it takes to soundcheck.

Why, I couldn't say...

Dearie me, they don't sound very nice! If the promoter's asked you to play and not them, then why don't you just get them off the bill?

Because, compared to us, they're massive. It's already been moved from downstairs Dry Bar to the considerably roomier upstairs, as it was well on it's way to selling out.
