They're very good, if you like that kind of thing. This track is from 'Greed', which was released in '86. Round that time they got slightly mellower/danceable. The first two LPs, and in particular, the 'Young God' EP from '84 are ridiculously heavy though.

Mr. Cooper,

I have downloaded this song. And I don't like it. But I *like* that I don't like it, so I will listen to repeatedly. For I quite enjoy the fact that it is horrible.

Mr. Bray,

I'm quite sure your definition there is precisely the same as the one I have with Swans, as well as a good few other bands. Anyway, this song is even more horrible and harrowing than 'Money is Flesh', so give it a listen and let me know what you think!

If anyone knows of a more terrifyingly more exhilirating song than this, I really want to hear it!

I've downloaded that song too...too dark for me at the moment. *goes back to listening to I'm From Barcelona and anime theme tunes*

oh, is there any reason as to why Seb and Bob are fighting with tin foil in those pictures?

The foil is in fact a Festivus pole, which is a made-up holiday from Seinfeld we celebrated last week. As to why they're fighting with it, this isn't clear...

Love the Swans a well. Do prefer Children of God and their more gothic records that came after as I find their earlier No Wave material (as with quite a lot of that scene) a bit too brutal though it has its merits. Maybe with the exception of Lydia Lunch's Teenage Jesus & The Jerks, Big Black and Mars. Check out Mars if you have not already. They had some tracks on Eno's No New York too and have done some interesting stuff.

Children of God is great, but I prefer the earlier stuff overall; Cop is absolutely fantastic.

Mars are great, although I prefer DNA and James Chance from the No New York compilation... I really love all that no wave stuff, by and large it's some of my favourite music.
