Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Short, thin and awkward. Probably a few inches shorter than five foot (Word of God says otherwise, but then all of Yugi's friends would be over seven feet and that's just odd). Barely any muscle, although he looks better thanks to all the running around he did on Duelist Kingdom. But mostly very short.

2. How old is he?
Currently sixteen.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Apparently he does slouch, although you wouldn't be able to tell if you saw the anime/read the manga. So I'd say he at least carries himself, but not in the best way.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He's pretty healthy despite his short and thin stature. Any other person might think he has a split personality disorder thanks to Yami. Of course, this won't be a problem on the boat… Instead people might think he's delusional for appearing to converse to no one at all, again thanks to Yami.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He's not the clumsiest guy ever, but he is pretty prone to tripping and falling right on the Millenium Puzzle. Sooo he's definitely not graceful. He honestly moves kind of awkwardly with a bit of tension, like most people who don't have a lot of confidence in themselves.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
If you like short people with huge eyes, I guess he's pretty attractive! Yugi himself doesn't think he's that good looking. In fact, he probably thinks he looks dorky and wimpy. It happens when one is made fun of because of it. But he never really changes how he looks, so he's comfortable enough with it. Either that or he realizes it's impossible.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Oh, he's about the same color as a pale Asian. It probably comes from holing himself up in his house most of the time like a hermit.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Oh boy. Un… usual. Very unusual. It seems to stick up in a star shape of sorts and is mostly black, outlined with red. And he has angular blond bangs that frame his face. Yeah.

9. What color are his eyes?
Thankfully, we're going with the anime version, and they're a constant violet. If we were going with the manga version, I'd have to say it changes between red and green and blue and purple and silver and…

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
I'm not sure if it's just the artist or what, but he seems to have slightly larger than normal hands. Also, his eyes and his stature seem to make him look more like a child at times, even though he's anything but. He also wears a stupid amount of jewelry thanks to Yami's influence.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
I… suppose that would be his hands? He tends to clench his fists and hold onto the puzzle often.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
SLUTTY. But nah, Yugi usually wears his school uniform. I suppose it's just comfy. But he's also taken a liking to wearing black and a lot of leather and bling. He blames Yami.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
At first, he wasn't all that comfortable in the leather and such, claiming that it wasn't his style, and Yami mused that he wore it because Yugi was hiding his true self. But in GX, we see Yugi still wearing leather and bling, so we can assume that he grows quite comfortable in it. We sometimes even see him wear it when he doesn't even have to in Duel Monsters, like during his talk with Yami in episode 53, and we see him wearing a bracelet even when he said he wasn't comfortable in it an episode before it.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Since Yugi is in Japan and still in school, he doesn't have a job. But when he helps his grandfather out in the game shop, he usually wears his normal clothes.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Briefs.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
I'm using the Japanese version, so it's pretty normal, although it totally lacks authority even when he's shouting. It's pretty soft, too. Somewhat hypnotizing.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
He speaks with a soft tone and very politely, as he's one of the few in the series who uses the more polite terms "boku" and "kimi". He can also be a bit hesitant when he speaks, especially when he's uncomfortable with the topic. As the series progresses, however, his tone gets a little stronger and more confident. But only a little. At this point, it's kind of in the middle.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
He has that typical Asian accent that bleeds over heavily when pronouncing English words, especially since he's pretty bad at it in the first place. He also speaks very modestly, even in stressful situations, and never ever curses.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Japanese with utmost fluency since that's his first language. English… not so much. He knows the basics and some words here and there, but the sentence structure is just so odd. He's been trying to study Ancient Egyptian, especially now that he knows that the secret to Yami's past lies in hieroglyphics on Marik's back, but again, it's so odd to him that he only knows a bit.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Not really, no.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He definitely has to think about his words. Really, I suppose it depends on the situation, but Yugi is this guy who always tries to word things nicely and keep anything less in his head. In tense situations, he's likely to let that slide though, like when he actually blames Bakura for getting them even more lost.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Since Yugi thinks about what he says, he's usually pretty eloquent. This changes when he's put on the spot, though. Sometimes he'll babble or awkwardly stumble over his words in that case.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Mm, a little bit of both. Granted, he probably doesn't do well in school considering how much he skips out to save the world with a children's card game, but he's certainly not dumb. I'd say he's about average. When it comes to games and puzzles, though, he's practically a genius. He could probably solve a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle in ten minutes or less.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Depends on the situation. If he has time to deliberate, he'll certainly take it. But if he doesn't? Definitely thinks on his feet, and he's rather good at it, too. He'd rather leave the strategizing to his other self though, since he knows that he's better at it than he is.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Yugi definitely thinks more emotionally than anything. It's what drives him to run straight into danger without a second thought and all. He's also pretty idealistic, unless he knows that the outcome of the situation is bad. Then he'll TRY to be optimistic but will likely just be pessimistic.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
He's been to school, although thanks to being distracted by games and saving the world, he hasn't paid attention to a lot of it.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
GAMES AND PUZZLES AND MORE GAMES. And he would like to learn about more games. And also Ancient Egyptian ways/practices/language.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert turned extrovert, so there's still a bit of the former tendencies in there.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Yugi is chipper and happy around other people, although he's also kind of awkward unless he's with people he's comfortable with. He's also relatively calm, usually trying to get others who blow up easily to settle the hell down and get back on normal ground. It's only during the most stressful points that he loses it, but instead of reacting with anger, he's merely forceful (in words alone) and prone to fear and worry.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Yugi is very open to making friends with new people, and he'll be relaxed and happy until he feels even the slightest bit awkward, then he'll start to grow a little more timid. This includes helpless smiles/laughter, locking his hands behind his back, not making eye contact and hesitating during his speech. If it gets to be too bad (as in, someone pushing him around), he'll let Yami take over while he hides in a corner.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
It really depends on the situation, but he'd mostly react. And if he must act, he usually lets Yami take care of it, because in Yugi's case, "act" means running to or from danger and not getting anything really productive done. He absolutely hates fighting and thus avoids it unless he's forced into it. Then he either tries to run from it or just let himself get beat up.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Again, it really depends. Default is flight, but if his friends are in danger, he will certainly switch to fight. In the non physical sense, at least. Usually, he'll face down even the toughest of bullies, but if it's something that he's sure will kill him if he sticks around long enough, he will run and yell at his friends to do the same.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Yugi will laugh at jokes, but he generally doesn't tell them. He'd probably ruin the joke, anyway. He can do gentle teasing, especially around those he trusts, and possibly add on to a joke someone told, but he usually just sits back and appreciates everyone else's humor.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
No diagnosable ones, but I'm sure everyone else thinks he must have some kind of mental disorder for talking to himself or looking at something that wasn't there.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Oh, a lot. When he first started to get pushed around, when he received the Millennium Puzzle, when he first met Anzu, when he solved the puzzle and made friends with Jounouchi and Honda, the second time he fought Kaiba and lost, the first time he actually talked to Yami and teamed up with him, having the puzzle stolen and staying behind to finish it in a blazing fire, deciding to help Yami find his memories, fighting Jounouchi while he was possessed by Marik, Jounouchi almost dying, and fighting Marik himself. There may have been more.

14. What does he fear?
Losing any of his friends, whether through abandonment or worse, is his greatest fear. It's mostly this reason that he ends up crying in the series.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
Uh. Yugi isn't much of a planner when it doesn't come to games. He just wants to make his friends happy and be able to keep them forever, although he knows that one or two might go their separate ways.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
He doesn't really… have much to hide. He doesn't really talk about Yami, but that's probably because it'd be way too difficult to explain, not to mention hard to believe. "Oh, he's the other me. His soul bound to mine thanks to an ancient Egyptian puzzle and now he talks to me in my head and tells me to do things." Yeah, he'd get thrown into the loony bin for that… I also think that he has this tiny little selfish though that he found Yami, and so Yami is his, and he doesn't particularly want to share something as special as that. Kind of like being in a secret club, you know? It'll probably be different on the boat, now that Yami has his own separate body and is thus easier to talk about. Otherwise… Yeah, I got nothin'.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Canon barely shows his interaction. But I'd say he has a relatively good relationship with his mother. He's a bit embarrassed by her antics, as most teenagers would be of their parents, but he still loves her and would do anything for her, just like he would for his grandfather and his friends. Heck, she indulges his nerdy habits, and that earns her a ton of points in his book. I bet she even modified that belt of his to carry his playing deck. But since he is her only son and he kind of looks like a child, his mother sometimes smothers him with affection and is far too sympathetic with him, especially when he widens his eyes just a bit. Her son is just too cute. Thankfully, though, his grandfather keeps him from being spoiled.

His father, however, is a different story. Word of God says that he's away on business, but that must be an awfully long business trip, considering the series is supposed to last for three years and we never see him around. Sure, he's away on business, but it's probably deeper than that. I'd say that he divorced Yugi's mother when Yugi himself was just a little kid and is currently living away from them. He found another woman shortly after, a younger one, and maybe even has a child that Yugi doesn't know about. He rarely ever visits, but when he does, Yugi treasures those visits. He gets along very well with his father, and they love each other, they really do… But time apart and everything else has just made their relationship rather awkward. Yugi doesn't want to ask about his new life, and his father knows it, so he keeps his mouth shut. Conversations often fall short because of this. When Yugi goes into his parents' room, depending on his mood, he'll stop and look at his dad's clothing or just quickly leave if they're in sight. Again, thank god Yugi's grandfather was there, as he served as the father figure that Yugi never had.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Nope, he's an only child. Maybe, just maybe, he has a half sibling out there somewhere, but he doesn't know about it and a part of him really doesn't want to know.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
GRANDPAAAA

Seriously, his grandfather served as that father he never had and is someone who shares just about all of his interests. The two have a wonderfully teasing and loving relationship, and Yugi would go to the ends of the earth if it meant his grandfather would be safe. Of course, he, too, is somewhat embarrassed by his antics, especially when they're just beyond Yugi's understanding, but at the same time, he's also amused by them. Heck, Sugoroku himself is a lovable troll, how can anyone not adore him?

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
YAMIIIIIIII

While Yami isn't necessarily his whole world, he still holds a very large and important place in Yugi's heart. Although Yami will say differently, Yugi is sure that he's the reason why his life suddenly started to get better, and not just because he happened to become friends with Jounouchi the day after he solved the puzzle. Yami taught Yugi how to believe in himself and have confidence in what he does and be assertive, although he's still working on all three of those things. Yugi absolutely looks up to him, but also realizes that he has a ton of faults. Rather than ignore them, however, Yugi is determined to work through them and accept them. Yugi adores him, and since their relationship is very much like having a second half of his soul, it's almost like saying Yugi loves himself. But despite his nickname for Yami, which literally means "the other me", Yugi still views him as a separate person who happens to share a body with him. Not to mention that they share practically everything, including every thought and feeling, and that must do wonders for their relationship.

So yeah, he's definitely close to Yami.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
YAMI YAMI YAMIIIII

Technically, Yugi met Yami when the latter possessed his body and used it to punish a bully who had severely beaten him up, but the first time he actually talked to him and was actually able to get a response was during their battle against Pegasus, when things got so bad that they had to team up.

Jounouchi, however, is his best friend for life, unlike a certain someone who will leave them all in favor of dead Egyptians. Yugi met him sometime during school, and Jounouchi was so annoyed by Yugi's passive and "girly" attitude that he began to push him around and demand him to man up.

6. Does he have other close friends?
Anzu, Honda, Mai… Bakura and Otogi are more like acquaintances, although he'll still call them friends. He tries to view Seto as a friend, but the guy just refuses to acknowledge their relationship as anything more than rivalry, and he doesn't mind saying this to Yugi's face.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Yugi has this kind aura that pretty much lets people gravitate to him. Back then, he simply didn't have the confidence to show it. He loves talking to people and making friends, even if he is a bit timid around them and sometimes has his friends take care of the more social aspects of it all.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
… Uh. Um. That is very difficult. Yugi considers both very, very important. But since friendship is a big theme in the show, I guess he thinks of that as more important, although family places an immediate second. Besides, family is… sort of like friendship, right?

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Single, and he's pretty sure he'll always be that way. Romance is awkward. And he's kind of a neeerd.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Yami EXCEPT NOT. The two are practically life partners, and Yugi maybe acknowledges that they're just a little gay, but he doesn't really have any romantic or sexual interest in him. And really, Yugi is way too much of a nerd to think of romance except for the occasional crush. Heck, he completely ignored a request for a date from Anzu just to check out a fortune teller.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Anzu and Anzu. Anzu was the first girl who was really nice to him and genuinely liked him as a person, and that still holds a big impact on him. But he also knows that Anzu thinks Yami is hot stuff, and while this does wonders to his confidence, he can certainly understand it and even gracefully ducks out of the competition to give Anzu a chance at Yami. Of course, he knows that Yami doesn't have an ounce of interest in her, and their "date" had more ulterior motives from Yugi (Yami finding his memories).

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
THEY NEED TO SHARE HIS INTERESTS. That includes games, games, puzzles, games, puzzles and more games, especially a certain children's card game. If they do not like these things then the relationship will never work. They also need to be willing to back him up when he does something potentially dangerous himself, because that rarely happens, and it's more of a burst of confidence from him when he really feels like he can do it rather than rushing into some life threatening situation. He also tends to gravitate to the more (positively) assertive types, because he most certainly is not and two quiet/awkward people in a relationship wouldn't really work. And first and foremost, they must be friends first and already be very comfortable around each other. Friendship is important and all that.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
NOPE, no kids.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
YUP. Seto Kaiba, a multi-millionaire CEO who is butthurt over losing to Yugi in a card game. And actually, it's more like it's this huge rivalry between Yami and Kaiba and Yugi just gets pulled into the middle of it. Yugi would rather just get along with him, but Kaiba refuses to. Whatever, no huge loss, and the two do get along and get stuff done sometimes, so it's okay.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
REALLY REALLY GAY only not. Probably a 2. Because he has reeeeeally gay moments with both Yami and Jounouchi, even though he still carries a torch for Anzu.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Probably better to look at. He is a bit of a closet pervert. But he doesn't really imagine himself ever doing that, and if he does it makes him blush madly and brush those thoughts away because it's just WEIRD when he's involved.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
8|

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
He was born on June 4th, which makes him a Gemini: The Twins. And it really does fit him well, especially when you take Yami into consideration. Here is more info on the Gemini type.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
He practices some Buddhism, but he's also extremely interested in ancient Egyptian practices and the like, especially since Shadi pretty much confirmed that all of it was real. At the same time, it's only an interest - that stuff is way too complicated for him to actually take part in.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
No fighting or violence. That's been drilled into him by his mother and his grandfather, and he believes in and upholds it quite well. The only thing that could possibly compromise this is if one of his friends is getting hurt, but even then he'd just throw himself in there and take the beatings instead.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Oh Yugi's cool with anything. In fact, he's probably curious about other religions and will ask a lot of questions about their beliefs and stories and such.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
Ummmhmhm none in particular.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Yugi doesn't have a job, nor will he get one until he's out of school, but his grandfather owns a modest little shop that sells one of the most popular games in the world, and his mother has some job out there too, so Yugi's fairly comfortable. Not rich, but not poor, either.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He pretty much became known all over the world overnight after he defeated Seto Kaiba. This is a big step from before, when he was some no name loser who only had a few loser friends. Despite all the fame, this hasn't really changed him at all. In fact, if people remark on how "that's the guy who defeated Seto Kaiba!" or something, he'll usually react awwwkwardly. He doesn't mind the status, he'd just rather not have the spotlight right on him.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He lives inside a house with a game shop on the bottom floor. It's a nice little place, and Yugi's spent a lot of time holed up in there because his grandpa has some awesome games and that's just about all Yugi needs in life. It's typically the hangout place for his friends, too, and he lets them treat it as if it's their own home. They even call Sugoroku "grandpa", just like Yugi does. His home is everyone's home, but most especially his own.

On the boat, however, he has a room that's right across from Yami's, but they never separate enough to stay in there so it doesn't really matter.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
CARDS. 8D AND GAMES AND PUZZLES AND BRAIN TEASERS.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
PLAY CARD GAMES AND SAVE THE WORLD LIKE A BOSS. He's the King of Games so of course he's good at it. Although it's usually Yami who does all the work while Yugi rides on the coattails of success, he's still a very good player, and Yami himself says that Yugi will surpass him in every way someday. And yes, Yugi thoroughly enjoys what he does.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
PLAYING CARD GAMES AND SAVING THE WORLD LIKE A BOSS. And playing other games. And coming up with games. Etc.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Yugi REALLY LIKES junk food like hamburgers (ESPECIALLY hamburgers) and fries and all that other fast food stuff. It's a miracle he isn't fat, though he can probably thank his genetics for that. Both his grandfather and his mom are pretty skinny, too. And all of his meals seem to be kid friendly, too.
