Philippines school

I am planning on going to the Philippines for nursing school. I am a U.S. Citizen. My father lives in Angeles City and is going to help me pay for school there or probably will pay for everything since he does very well there and says it's a lot cheaper over there. I have one tattoo on my forearm and one on my upper arm. I have to wear a uniform.. ( Read more... )

Hey, I'm from the Philippines and more than half of my friends are nursing grads. I'm not quite sure about the tattoos, but I think it depends on the school. Most of the schools in Cebu (where I'm from) have the standard rule and code of cleanliness (complete uniform, short nails, hair bun, etc.). I think if you keep that standard, they COULD forgive the tattoo, hahaha. ^^ What school in Angeles city are you going to?

Ditto to wring. xlovlyxmayhemx don't fret about the tats; and Filipino students are very friendly, some might even be shy around you. Someone mentioned a dress code-- that's one thing to keep in mind, just follow the code and you will be okay. Dang, I miss wearing uniforms, believe it or not.

I don't know how friendly students are. When I went over there Summer of '08 people were friendly.

hi goldnlocket!

Don't worry about making friends (or not making them) if you don't speak Tagalog. Most Filipino teenagers are very tolerant and accomodating.

xlovlyxmayhemx, if you're going to stay in Angeles City, you'll probably enroll at the Holy Angels University (they have an excellent nursing program). The uniform there is all-white for girls, short sleeves and knee-high skirt, "reasonably-heeled" shoes (meaning not too high). Having a tatoo would probably a bit of a disadvantage but I don't think you're going to be refused enrollment just because of it. Finding employment with a tatoo, in the health sector, might prove more a problem tho. How noticeable is it?

If I wear three quarter length sleeves, it covers it up a decent amount. I really should just give up with nursing, lol.
