I started this journal on New Year's in 2002, so my renewal notice always comes up around this time. I just declined. I won't be posting here any further, and I may even go as far as removing all the content soon.

I myself am saddened to see people leaving LJ in droves. Over the years, I've built up such an amazing community of people around myself via LJ -- both IRL and internet-only. I can't imagine life without it. If I may do a little bit of self-promotion here, you may want to peek at LJProxy if you have not done so already. It lets you get at friend-protected LJ entries in your RSS reader of choice (specifically targeting Google Reader). These days, that is the main interaction I have with LiveJournal. I only ever hit up the site to leave the occasional comment.
I don't blame you for wanting to leave LiveJournal. I did the same a few years ago. At the time, I used Wordpress' LJ import functionality to pull in entries, but comments and userpics were left behind. I had never seen LJ Migrate before, but may now run that just for kicks to see if I can do anything fun or useful with the backup. Maybe I'll write a little script to import the comments tied to the previously-imported blog posts.

I have this irrational fear of Wordpress. It would be super easy to set up, but it seems like they get hit with security problems every month.
