State of the Foot
I've just been sitting around and healing, which is a lot like sleeping. I'm pretty well off the pain killers, though I will still take one at night if I am having trouble getting to sleep and the foot is acting up at all, or in the day if I think I'm going to need to have it down a lot. Sleepy Sleep Sleep
I'm getting around much better, but I've gotten the Extreme Tireds and have been sleeping a ton. This seems to be a feature as I seem to have gotten out of bed more than I thought before, and being in bed all day would be boring except I'm not awake for all of it. Thumping Around for a Better Tomorrow
I went to see the podiatrist and now have a shiny new cast. Well not shiny. Kind of a plasticy fiberglass-impregnated ace bandage sort of setup. It hardens much faster than plaster ( Read more... ) -
Plenty to be Thankful For
Thanksgiving went really well, through no efforts of my own; Brad and tamago and my mother did everything, especially Tamago, who took on my dishes in addition to what she was doing, and they came over early to help with everything. Awake-ish
So the 24-72 hour nerve block wore partially off sometime after 6am this morning, and my foot would like me to know that it does not enjoy having holes cut into it. On vicodin this turns into a dull roar but is never pleasant. I have been obediently lying around all the time because there honestly isn't any other choice; just going to the ( Read more... ) -

Wheelchair Newb
So I've been wondering/worrying about needing a wheelchair for years, what with the diminishing mobility, and this year I had decided I wanted one for going to any long events where I'd have to sit in someone else's chair (usually this means torture and torment and three+ days of recovery) but was having a chicken-and-egg issue where I was too ( Read more... ) -
Long Day
I'm going in for surgery tomorrow (well later today technically), whee!
Today was a long hard day but I have a rented wheelchair and this knee stroller thing that's actually pretty cool except it steers like a cow, so it's hard to use in the house. Also it is pretty tiring to use, though not nearly as bad as the crutches. Carl was an amazing help ( Read more... ) -

Titration
Chance's metabolism laughs off one pill (the greyhound dose). If we give him another (the border collie dose) he gets rather stoned and willing to sleep -- he still follows me all around the house if I move, but then flops right over or sliiiiides his legs out if he tries to sit -- but he burns it off in the minimum time rather than the maximum.
