Working! Pumping! Nursing!

Last week was my first week back to work (part-time), and it was both better and worse than I was expecting.  I decided ahead of time that my strategy would be to compartmentalize--to think of work when I'm at work and home when I'm home (except when pumping when I could think about home with abandon, talk to Apple and Birdie, and look at pictures ( Read more... )

It is so great to get all this scoop about your return back to work!! I am so impressed that you are already so close to pre-preg weight so soon! Bonkers. I can't believe that Birdie wasn't able to drink the frozen breast milk! After the chest freezer and everything. Good work making so many changes so well!

I know! That was a doozy. I called the lactation consultant that we worked with before and she said that my milk probably has a lot of [insert name of enzyme here that I can't remember], which works quickly to break milk down, leaving it unpalatable for some babies. Her recommendation--scald the milk on the stove before freezing. So now I'm nursing, pumping, and scalding/packaging milk. It's nuts.

I'm close to my pre-pregnancy weight, but my body is so different! It seems to morph every day; I wonder what it will be like to get to a point where it's more or less normal again. One day.
