Therer is a backhoe three houses down making all kinds of loud racket, and I just know it is going to wake up babyj after only 30 minutes of napping. Construction around naptime is on my shit list

Coco and I were talking about the baby we used to take care of and while we were doing it, we complained about getting up early and how tired we were, and how she couldn't do it by herself and get any work done. But we miss him all the time. We watched him change and grow for 4-5 month. We fed him and slept with him. I feel like we were more than just babysitters or nannies. And although 4-5 months doesn't sound like alot, it's the majority of his life
You do form a very special connection with kids when you are one of the primary caregivers, especially when they are babies. I know all of babyj's words because I helped teach them to him and was with him as his language developed. Other people have no idea what he is saying:-) (excluding his parents of course) I love the way he curls up into my body when we sit down to read or play together.. I will really miss him once I stop working with them, whenever that is.
Not that you need my validation, but the reality of needing a paycheck is a wholly legitimate reason for deciding for the contract work instead of the time with BabyJ. It doesn't mean you are a bad person, that you don't like kids, etc. You have to do what is right for you. It may enable you to do what is right for your own kids, later.
