Highlander looked at the great brown expanse that was Moncton, and frowned. There was fighting amongst the Gods and he could feel their hands here-someone or several someone’s were being used as pawns to play the games of the Gods. There needed to be a balance in the mortal realm, or so he was taught, or the people there would suffer.
He knew that he must intervene, so he continued into the area. He could always leave if nothing could be helped.
“Lend your strength to Moncton High!” yelled a boy on the corner of a dirt road. “Support the beautiful Purple Knight!”
The Highlander was confused, and approached the boy. “Moncton High,” he asked, “Who is this? And the Purple Knight? Is he the ruler of these lands?”
The boy scoffed at this large man’s ignorance and replied, “Moncton High is a school for the greatest! The Purple Knight is their leader and has the favor of the Goddess Aphrodite!”
“Oh, of course… Are they anymore of these schools?” he asked, leaning in to hear well. His suspicion had been correct.

Highlander knew his only hope in mending the balance would be to speak with Athena.
Once in her personal chamber, the Highlander stood before the Goddess, watching as her critical eyes scanned him over.
“So,” she said, her voice crisp and echoing in the large hall. It was fashioned in the ways of her people and custom, large white columns supporting the high ceiling. “You have come to me seeking aid but I ask you this, what makes you worthy?”
“The selfish desires of flesh impairs the judgment of my country men-they have taken up with your sister and mother and have created a great war. They do not see that in partaking in a fight much greater than themselves they risk hurt to the entire area. I only wish to serve as a tool to balance them again.”
Athena made an ‘humph’ noise and furrowed her brows. “It is true my sister and mother are competing-each day they try to pull me into their fruitless games of bickering. But if I may compete with a warrior of my own and not embarrass myself with competitions of flirting… I may very well be interested in this.
“My power is in wisdom and in
