GENERAL NOTES
Between my floundering with NaNoWriMo and general ill health of all kinds, I've been very slow. I'm not sure how that will play out in December, we'll see. I'm definitely very excited about this winter plot, since Victorian history is a favorite for me, especially the 1870s and '80s, so it will be fun to play with those things in a different context. Time providing, I'll probably EP all these bastards, or at least two of them and maybe a joint post for the other three and top levels at parties and give me all your threads. I'm not opposed to private threads if you want them, not in the least. I'm not setting up a planning thing for that, but feel free to tell me you want one, etc.

Also because I am excited about these things and also this is an incredibly varied era, I'll be addressing wardrobe choices below instead of paying attention to anything relevant like plans.

EDEN MCCAIN
Still furthering various friendships, still dreaming of getting into Lily's pants. Actually talked with Lily about the feasibility of opening a kind of, like, bi-monthly nightclub in a hut in the jungle that would just basically be an informal dance club that's only open when… they feel like it, pretty much. Details of whether or not this will actually occur still forthcoming, but it's always fun to play her coming up with ideas and flirting left and right and slowly getting back into the groove of things, as it were. She'll enjoy the winter, in no small part because she'll be pleased by the whole city setting (and because it's the closest she'll ever come to actually traveling to England or… much of anywhere).

WARDROBE: While she'll have fun playing dress up in earnest once in a while, for the most part, Eden will be keeping things simple. If she wears a corset at all, it's going to be one of those 1830s numbers with the eyelets up the back but no boning or anything of that fashion, which would make a really awesome tank top these days, except it's too cold for her to wear it that way, of course. Anyway, blouses, skirts, stockings, boots, pretty simple.

MEREDITH GREY-CASSIDY
Just got married, yaaaay. Look at that hyphenate and everything! All things considered, doing pretty well and I'm just… going to let her enjoy the winter, probably, unless Leshia has other plans, before I start thinking up new ways to mess with her, of which there are always many. Will not be overly thrilled with the transformation in terms of her clinic and the O.R., but mostly will bear with it, since she's in a good mood and all.

WARDROBE: Will be bypassing most of the wardrobe in her closet, since everything will have turned into skirts and dresses, in favor of fishing men's trousers from the box and pairing those with shirtwaists/blouses. May turn to skirts on colder days for the sake of more layers. Nothing overly flouncy or frilly ever, thanks, and no corsets or bustles or tiny hats, okay.

OLIVE PENDERGHAST
All kinds of fun with the carnival and ensuing attack, in which she was only minor mauled in the fighting and her boyfriend got a broken leg climbing through a window. Oops. She invited him to live with her until the cast comes off, so he's not just hobbling around alone, but she may or may not ask him to move in with her for good and all once that day comes, which is fun, since it goes contrary to her, you know, personal idea of her future, but at the same time, she's the most adaptable and circumstances on the island aren't circumstances at home, so… that's a thing. Also somewhat guilty about staying friends with Mark after he and Eduardo fought, but also knows she'd feel worse cutting a friend loose on someone else's behalf, because she's genuinely come to care about Mark over the last several months and kind of learned that, okay, the boys may just not be cut out to fix things, but Mark isn't the sort of larger-than-life asshole she envisioned before he arrived, he's a guy who's been a surprisingly good friend to her. That said, she's dropped his project in the hopes that her not having that sort of routine scheduled time with Mark might make that fact easier on Eduardo.

For December, she will basically be running around doing everything she can. I have various ideas for things I want to do with her in the future, including potentially stage managing a super-amateur production of Much Ado with Grace in the spring, but for this month, it's going to be all about her experiencing as much as she can of her new environment.

WARDROBE: EVERYTHING. Olive's really the only one of my pups who will be making a concerted effort to dress in a reasonably historically accurate fashion, though the decade will vary from day to day as she tries to wend her way through different styles, as many as she can. Part of it is the sheer fun, but part of it is really wanting to get a feel for what that kind of clothing feels like and all of that. Did you guys ever watch those PBS reality shows, back when there weren't that many reality shows, like… 1900s House and that stuff? And they'd put the families in the Edwardian household, etc., and have them wear period-appropriate clothes and live like they were in that era and all, and they had this doctor talking about, like, the short-term and long-term effect of corsets on a woman's body and - tell me I'm not the only one who loved that shit.

Anyway, Olive's approaching it kind of like that, in that she'll be going to the hilt with outfits and wearing a corset every day, although this time it will be for socio-historical/fashion study reasons. Also she will be pulling everything apart and putting it together again to figure out how to reconstruct these things for costume pieces in the future. Dresses, skirt-and-blouse combos, riding skirts to go bike-riding, little hats, bustles, capelets and muffs and boots and the works.

CAMERON WINKLEVOSS
Incredibly delighted his brother is on the island (and probably teasing him about the four month age difference that now exists), even if he isn't necessarily acting all thrilled. He's more composed than that, but undeniably happier. Also on the list of things that are undeniable, to his chagrin - his growing feelings for Jenny Mellor. With Tyler around making it feel more acceptable to, well, accept his stay on the island as something more long-term, he'll be driving the cluebus himself and probably finally getting his shit together to ask her out sometime next month. He will enjoy the change somewhat, but also be pretty frustrated with the fact that all the water is frozen. Potentially hosting a small holiday party with his brother.

WARDROBE: Will make some effort to look presentable, if not especially accurate to any one decade. But there will be vests and cravats and greatcoats and the like and it will be beautiful.

HARLEY ALTMEYER
As always, Harley is torn between two things (or several sets of two things). In this case, it's mostly the part of him that feels a responsibility to the sisters he left behind and the questions left unanswered versus the part of him that says fuck it, that isn't his problem, it's not his fault, the island is basically everything his life would never given him. There is no best case scenario for Harley Altmeyer, no world where he gets an easy life filled with beautiful women and no responsibilities where no one knows about his family, no possibility of a free education - except this one. Which, honestly, the only reason he doesn't think he's made it all up out of sheer crazy is the fact that, while he's frequently and willfully not the most self-aware guy in the world, he's aware enough to know he wouldn't give himself all this.

Other things occurring in pairs: the women in his life, namely Thalia and Ellen. Like I said last month, he's intensely drawn to Thalia, and it's frustrating for him, because he doesn't want to be emotionally involved, but at the same time, that's because he can't help getting emotionally involved, he can't help caring. And he's so gratified and bewildered by the fact she cares in return. On the other hand, there's Ellen, who's still something of a mystery and older and probably messed up in her own way, and in her way, that makes her safe. Because he likes her, but he doesn't care about her like he did about Callie or in the way he feels about Thalia. So basically he's just going to play dumb and sleep with them both for as long as he can get away with it, until something traumatic occurs which will be… um. When I decide how first to traumatize him. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES. Seven years worth of items to choose from, and I don't even need to pick one to accomplish anything. Actually, as of the wardrobe section, I probably know how to start. Also, lol, I say that like traumatic occurrences keep him from having sex. He will just want more sex.

WARDROBE: Might actually prefer death. Expect trousers, shirts, heavy boots, coats and a scowl. Will probably throw a total shitfit when he can't find his father's hunting jacket. And then cry. On some brunette's décolletage. Probably during sex.

THE FUTURE
I have Hannah on reserve for P1 at the moment, which has been essentially inevitable since the day Crazy, Stupid, Love came out and we went to see it twice in the same day. There are so many people I want to app, but it's a matter of figuring out which of them most grabs my attention and whether or not I have the time for more than one, maybe two, more. I suspect that once Skins returns, Mini will shoot right back to the top, and she's certainly the easiest, and therefore likeliest, candidate, but for now, the only thing set in stone is Hannah. Ugh, guys, I love her so much. I don't know, at first I tried to tell myself she was too much like Olive (down to the face) and in retrospect, I don't understand why I told myself that, because there's a similar, you know, inappropriate wisecracking vibe, but Hannah is so different from my others. If anything, she's closest to Cameron with her life all neat and planned but actually not going according to schedule at all, and while there are parts of her with which I identify - I always app people I feel some connection to on a personal level, and the ones where I don't are the ones that don't work out - they're parts that aren't really represented in the others, so that's exciting. YAY.
