This was so good and deep and bittersweet. I've always liked Diana, but I've never really given her much thought. I really enjoyed this deeper look into her, and her relationship with Christie and her past with Charlie. You really write beautifully.
Oh, wow, you've done it again. I looove this, and I'm in awe of how you interrogate the show, connect the dots and then make it real. As others have said, the parallels here are epic and wonderful, especially that Diana has just as many trust issues as Neal, and just as good reason for them. Her unwavering loyalty to Peter (and to Neal), her desire to do the right thing and her disillusionment with the politics of the system -- perfect Diana. I especially liked her reaction to the Barrow shooting, and She wished Charlie were here. She wanted to hear him tell her it was okay for her to be okay with this.
Neal is perfect here too, broken but still scraping it together well enough to put on a show. And I liked Helen a lot, with her compassion and voice of experience, what she sees and doesn't see, how far her understanding goes and the lines she draws.
Eeeeeee, I'm so glad you liked it! ♥ Thank you so much!
There are a lot of parallels between Diana and Neal, really, and I'm glad those and her trust issues felt real, here. She understands Neal very well, even when she's angry, I think.
And there are ... a lot of issues that the show hints at and doesn't explore, and I wanted to poke at some of those and examine them more closely.
This is wonderful! You did such a great job of getting into Diana's head, and I also love what you did with Neal here. The whole thing is beautifully written.
Wow! I have no words for this, it's so amazing and bittersweet and just so painfully real \o/ I love it ♥ You always manage to take what little the canon offers us and turn it into something complex and perfect and wonderful \o/
Thank you so much for posting and I'm sorry I'm so late with commenting, RL got in the way but I'm so happy I finally got to read this masterpiece :D
This was amazing. I finally got to read this story and it was absolutely perfect. I love the way you portrayed Diana, how you showed the similarities between her and Neal and how you covered the whole horrible situation.
