I have spent the last couple of years readying myself to drop out. I have become a better gardener. I'm cooking more, with basic ingredients. I am mending torn clothes. all my friends here who have chickens have not lost them to wild creatures, but have lost them to neighbourhood dogs. i think wild creatures are more nervous to spend ages breaking down fences, whereas domesticated dogs aren't nervous at all.
i used to clipper horses. much easier than dogs (bigger!) i doubt she'll care that she looks silly, and your clipping skills will improve as time goes by.
