My roommate just described a hornet buzzing on our patio using expressions and gesticulations that reminded me of Jack Nicholson's Shining face on a pogo stick. Done laughing now.
Now I *really* have to see The Shining.* I will try to remember to think of Jack's face on a pogo stick.
It is already on my library hold list for my cultural edification and because it was filmed at Timberline Lodge, a local landmark where we go to snowboard.
For some reason, I remembered the SHining having been filmed at the Stanley hotel in Estes Park. This is what I found:
King and his wife moved to Boulder, Colorado in late summer of 1974, and rented a house. In late October, they decided they needed a break from the kids, so they checked in to the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO. This was the inspiration for the novel. Stanley Kubrick's movie The Shining was NOT filmed at the Stanley Hotel however. It was shot at Elstree Studios near London. The façade of the hotel used in his film was MODELED after the Tiberland Hotel in Oregon. The mini-series made for ABC was indeed filmed at the Stanley Hotel.

Curiously, Jack Nicholson reminds me much of my dad. So does Michael Madsen.
