So, my Mum gets really houseproud around Christmas. All these people coming over and so our usually quite tidy house (it gets tidied and vacumned once a week - generally speaking it's fairly neat) suddenly has to be cleaned to the point where it's quite possibly a contender for Better Homes and Gardens

We've called the nice governmental people and they've come and checked out the area and had a look around. They put some poison in, and me and mum also went and tipped bleach in between the pavers. (If that ends up killing the greenery as well, bonus given that the only green things between our pavers are weeds :P)

Department of Primary Industries have some sort of a mobile Fire Ant unit which operates around the Brisbane suburbs. I would recommend that you give them a call. :)

We did. They said that we have a cornucopia of all different ant types living in our patio. OH WONDERFUL.

We use this stuff at work called Fripronil. Basically, the ants eat it or take it back to their ..... nest (is that right?) .... but usually we have no problems after a couple of days.

The problem with DPI is that, while they mean well, they have never been the most reliable when it comes to pest control. So I hope that they used something good and effective.
