Holy crap. I am still shaking on behalf of my friends in NYC.

That plane crash could have been so much worse. That crash landing in the Hudson was a miracle. Thank God. Here's a thread from the forum which shall not be mentioned ( Read more... )

Oh my. You know, it hadn't even occured to me to think of that. Actually, if that plane was leaving LaGuardia, it must have been fairly close to me. *blink, blink* Wow!

*Shivers*

It could have landed in anyone of those buildings near the river. One of my friends was very close to the the river in mid town, and the whole thing could be seen from her off. My voice teacher is on the UWS, but is only three doors from Riverside Park. I left him a message and am trying to get a hold of Pax Romana.

I still can't stop shaking. Bloomberg is on TV right now as I type.

Some good flying! Water landings can go very, very badly.

Agreed. The skills and presence of mind involved was nothing short of extraordinary. The plane could have broken up as it hit the water or the pilot could have lost control and struck buildings on the way down. This incident could have been such a tragedy (and I could have lost some people I care very much about). God bless that pilot and the co-pilot, as well as the crew and passengers!

I hope this link works , it's a link to a video of the jet landing in the Hudson River , you have to wait until about 02:05 before anything happens but it's a long and good video...
