I agree on Komu, too. I remember really not liking her in her first show as top star ("End of a Long Spring"), and looking back, I still don't think she did that well. She seemed bland. But by "Romance de Paris" she'd improved so much...she grew by leaps and bounds as an actress with each show, and really seemed to study each role to improve herself.
I've never seen Tonami's Marie Antoinette, so I can't judge, but she really was young when you mention it. I'm glad she was one of those musumeyaku who got real roles before going to top, so she could grow as an actress before taking on such difficult roles.
