Dream ✿ oo2

He could hear the sound of hooves against the mountain ground and shouting voices, both afraid and angry ones. The caravan was being attacked--that much he could gather. A woman whose name he couldn't recall was begging him not to go outside, for his own sake. For a few moments, he complied, before he heard a voice:

"Bring me the one-eyed, clawed brat who killed my brother! Bring him out here!"

Senri, appearing to be somewhere in his early teens, touched his eyepatch with his left hand, as he glanced down at his right. It looked normal now, but he knew that wasn't always the case. 'One-eyed, clawed'--such a description could only fit him.

"Where is Senri?" Crystala's voice this time, asking for him. There was an answer, saying he was in the last wagon. And despite the woman clinging to his leg, telling him to stop, he stepped out from the wagon's cover, revealing himself to the bandits. He didn't know what was going on, amidst the confusion, but he knew he was being called for. The moment he left the safety of the wagon, though, there was a noose around his neck, pulling him off the wagon and onto the ground. Holding onto the rope was a bandit on horseback. As they moved farther away from the caravan, away from everyone's cries, Senri clutched the noose, eyes closed and teeth clenched. Other than that, there was no reaction.

"The kid ain't crying at all..." the bandit said--the same one who had shouted for him earlier. "I wanted to hear you scream, just like my little brother, Jimmy, did!"

Senri didn't know who he was talking about, focusing on letting air flow into his lungs. There was a distant memory, but it was just that--distant. Did he kill someone? He couldn't remember.

"Well, that's fine. Jimmy's waiting for you!" As he said this, the bandit yanked on the rope, cutting off Senri's air. He choked, and tried to tug at the noose, to no avail. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't breathe--and then, without warning, it loosened.

"Please stop!" Even though he was barely thinking straight now, Senri recognized the voice and the figure approaching them on horseback. Crystala, she was here to help him, like she'd always been. Senri would've been relieved if he hadn't been shocked. As for the bandit, he retorted something Senri didn't catch, before pulling on the reins.

As it turned out, that was the worst move he could make. The rope, tangled around the horse's hooves, caused it trip over the cliff edge and into the rushing river waiting deep, down below.

Bringing the bandit and Senri down with it.

Barely having the time to even react, the last thing Senri heard before plunging into the water was a single cry:

"Senriiii!"

[If you expected Senri to have much of a reaction to the dream, you are sorely mistaken. All he does is pull out his book and flip to a certain page, where a familiar flower lies, before staring at it with a contemplative look on his face.]
