Bulbapedia Character Personality: Shaymin is essentially an animal and does animal things (walks on four legs, scratches its ear, lives in the wild), sometimes selfishly. It is a genderless Pokémon that feels most at home when in the forest or with other Shaymin. Shaymin is rather delicate and can sense gratitude in other living creatures. But it is also cowardly, more apt to run from foes or hide.
Around people that are kind to it, Shaymin is demure. When it is hugged, it will automatically bloom flowers from its back in appreciation. But Shaymin can also be very bossy and conceited. It will demand that people stop what they are doing to help it or feed it (there seems to be no preference to food when Shaymin eats. It likes pancakes, which are human food, but also poffins, which are strictly food for Pokémon).
It is not used to humans; the first time it had interacted with humans was when it met Ash, Dawn, and Brock. It has only had to communicate with other Shaymin and perhaps some other Pokémon. It is a rare Pokémon, which means there are probably not a lot of Shaymin in the world, and certainly not many living with humans. So it is pretty naive when it comes to humans and human things.
Character Abilities: The world Shaymin comes from is known for creatures called Pocket Monsters, Pokémon for short. Pokémon are in tune with nature, life, and can even live alongside humans in harmony. Many humans decide to become what are called Pokémon Trainers, where they can catch and raise Pokémon to battle them against other trainers. Through the help of trainers, Pokémon are able to learn different moves and techniques and can grow stronger than they would if they were left in the wild.
Shaymin is no exception. It is a grass-type species that knows various grass-related techniques. Shaymin's special/signature moves are Seed Flare and Aroma Therapy. With Seed Flare, Shaymin is able to suck polluted air into its body and purify it by breaking it down to water and light. It then releases the newly-made substance in an explosive blast, effectively creating its own bomb. Aroma Therapy is a move that will cure all status ailments of people and other Pokémon nearby.
Not only does Shaymin know grass-type moves, but it also looks like grass. This is good for camouflage, as all Shaymin has to do is curl up into a ball and predators will pass over it thinking that it is part of the ground. It should be mentioned that this Shaymin is a wild Shaymin and has never been under the control of a trainer. It has managed to survive on its own in the forest and was able to fight against Giratina, a Pokémon that is significantly larger and more powerful than it, with no human commanding it.
Shaymin also has two forms; Land Forme, and Sky Forme. Most of the time, Shaymin will be seen in Land Forme. But once it inhales pollen from a special type of flower, a Gracidea flower, it will change shape. Shaymin in Sky Forme is much more daring and has the ability to fly. In both forms, Shaymin is able to communicate with humans telepathically.
Character Weaknesses: Being a grass-type Pokémon, Shaymin is highly susceptible to fire and ice. Also, statistically, it is one of the smallest Pokémon, standing at only 8 inches and weighing less than five pounds. It can easily be swept away by strong winds or currents, and would not be able to participate in any battling without its Pokémon abilities (physically, it is not very strong). Without pollen from a Gracidea Flower, Shaymin is unable to change into its Sky Forme, and, therefore, cannot fly. It is pretty much stuck to running and hiding.
Shyamin can also be very blunt with its words. It will tell you exactly what it is thinking about, how it feels. This can be a major turn-off for other people who first meet it. Looking the way Shaymin does, too, could cause people to not take it seriously.
[ WEAPON SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Weapon: In the Pokémon world, Pokémon are used to support humans in almost every aspect of their lives. Pokémon can battle, aid in work, or simply be stalwart companions. The relationship between human and Pokémon is very similar to the relationship between a Meister and Weapon; both parties must trust each other in order for them to work together. Shaymin is very small and quite vulnerable, but it has the potential to be strong with the right "trainer" behind it.
What is your character's Weapon form?: Shaymin's Weapon form is a large shield that looks like a Gracidea flower. The petals on the shield give off a pleasant aroma that can both energize the Meister and heal their wounds.
(If there is a way for Shaymin to change formes in the future, the Sky Forme Weapon would be a pair of winged shoes that adjust to the size of the Meister's feet. They would allow the Meister to fly. Unfortunately, it would be impossible for this Weapon to be used at night, or in cold conditions)
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description: aloof, haughty, cowardly, sensitive, gentle, expectant
(the set of adjectives changes slightly for Shaymin's Sky Forme: proud, brave, gutsy, friendly, pompous, expectant)
Soul Appearance: A very small green orb, with a pink flower pattern on either side. Shaymin will usually have an unamused or worried expression.
[ SAMPLES ]
First Person:
[the feed clicks on abruptly, and there is a rather large... black thing on the screen. It is making noises? A nose? Yes! It's a black nose sniffing at the camera. This goes on for at least a minute before the nose pulls back and is replaced by a blinking eye.]
Shay.
[the eye moves out of the lens and finally, the whole body of a little animal is seen as it walks away from the PDA. There are some other familiar voices in the room, but the green and white creature seems more interested in smelling the shoes of whoever is talking. At last it is directed to look at the camera from a distance, and so it does that.
There, a nice face, but not a very nice expression. The animal just looks confused and maybe even a little angry]
How do you expect me to use this? [it speaks this sentence without opening its mouth. telepathy] I don't understand! You need to explain better or I won't use it at all.
Third Person:
Sniff. Sniff.
A small black nose poked out from behind a building, wiggling almost furiously as its user tried to take in every new scent. This place was full of strange sights and smells, and Shaymin wasn't sure it wanted to venture out into the unknown. Where were the lush forests, the calm waters? Where were the other Pokémon? No, no. Shaymin didn't like this at all. It was so hot here. And full of sand. Yuck!
At last, the creature stepped out onto the streets, slowly, placing one paw in front of the other with deliberate hesitation. It turned up its nose when it got a whiff of something particularly unpleasant (it didn't know what that was, nor did it want to know) and changed directions. Shaymin already knew it wouldn't do well in the city. At least if there were other Pokémon around, it would have been able to feel like it had a kindred spirit. But there were no Pokémon at all! Just humans. Humans everywhere, and not even one of them looked like a trainer. They didn't even seem to take notice of Shaymin. How ungrateful.
A loud sound caused Shaymin to stop dead in its tracks. When it turned its head to see where the noise was coming from, it saw a huge machine headed straight for it. Oh, that thing wanted to eat it! Shaymin yelped and managed to scramble away just before the wheels touched it. Horrible, just horrible! Shaymin darted across the street and jumped into an alley to hide from that monster. It took it several minutes just to get its breathing to calm down and for it to uncurl its trembling body.
"Min..." it mumbled quietly as tears pricked at the corner of its eyes. Shaymin was terrified of this new place. It wanted to go home.
